History of Lucknow

Lucknow developed under the rule of the Nawabs of Awadh and become a major culture center of India. It also played an important role during the freedom struggle. After the British took control in 1856, the city witnessed major political and social changes. Despite this, Lucknow retained its rich cultural heritage, traditions and architectural beauty. Over time, it grew into an important administrative, educational and cultural hub of northern India, known for its elegance, hospitality and historical legacy.
