Geography of Lucknow

Lucknow is located in the central part of Uttar Pradesh on the banks of the Gomti River. It has a subtropical climate with hot summers and cool winters. Lucknow stands at about 123 meters above the sea level with mostly flat terrain and fertile soil. The Gomti River supports the city's water needs and adds to it's beauty. The city experiences hot summers, a rainy monsson from June to September and cool winters with temperatures sometimes near 5'C. Its location makes Lucknow an important cultural and historical center in northern India.
